AWWU employs close to 300 men and women who operate its treatment plants and other facilities, while spending $50 million annually to ensure Anchorage’s water and wastewater systems perform efficiently. The Utility’s Core Purpose – Safeguarding Public Health and the Environment - is supported and attained with AWWU’s Infrastructure, its Financial Resources, and most importantly, its Human Resources, our professional staff.

AWWU employees are provided with the tools to achieve success through education, training, certification programs, and field experiences which have resulted in a staff with longevity at all levels for the residents of the Municipality of Anchorage to depend upon.

These are treatment plant operators, engineers, administrators, laboratory technicians, maintenance craftsmen, accountants, customer service representatives, computer specialists and field service personnel. Together with experience and innovation, AWWU strives for service excellence, investing to ensure reliable service, safeguard public health, and protect the environment, long into the future.
