AWWU General Manager, Mark A. Corsentino, P.E.Mark Corsentino was appointed General Manager by Mayor Ethan Berkowitz in 2019. Mark joined the Utility as a Civil Engineer in 2007, and worked on multiple water and sewer projects, utilizing his strong knowledge of planning, design, and construction. He was an Engineering Project Management Supervisor for 6 years, and became the Director of Operations and Maintenance in 2016. The General Manager is responsible for the overall operation of AWWU, providing leadership and direction for seven operational divisions. |

AWWU Assistant General Manager, David A. Persinger, P.E.David Persinger has worked in the water and wastewater field in Alaska since 2006. He joined the Utility in 2006 as an intern in the Engineering Division, where he worked in several different roles until becoming the Treatment Division Director in 2013. In March 2019, David was appointed the Operations & Maintenance Division Director. David was appointed Assistant General Manager in July of 2023. |
Utility Division Directors
Customer Service Director, Jayne M. FrittsJayne Fritts has worked in the Utility industry for over 25 years. She joined AWWU in the year 2000 working as a projects administrator for Customer Service. She was selected as the Customer Service Division Director in 2012. The Customer Service Division is responsible for the accurate billing, collection, and meter reading for both water and wastewater customer accounts. Additionally, the Division manages the backflow, permitting, construction inspection, Utility locates and first emergency dispatch for Anchorage, Eagle River, Girdwood and northern communities. |

Administrative Services Director, Alyssa FarrarAlyssa Farrar has over 20 years of experience in municipal administration, initially joining the Utility in 1999. She was a member of AWWU’s General Manager’s Office for almost 15 years, and served in the City of Wasilla Mayor’s Office for over four years. Alyssa was appointed Director of AWWU's Administrative Services Division in 2018. The Administrative Services Division provides advanced managerial support, and administers the Utility's programs in safety and security, training and development, public outreach, and emergency preparedness.

Engineering Director, Mark Schimscheimer, P.E., PMPMark Schimscheimer is a Civil Engineer with over 25 years experience in both the public and private sectors. His experiences range from international oil exploration and development, to rural Alaska infrastructure projects throughout Alaska, to development of world class mining operations. He was responsible for water and wastewater installation projects in all seven North Slope villages. Mark became the manager of AWWU's Engineering Division Planning and Development Services section in 2017, and the Director of AWWU Engineering in 2019. |

Finance Director, Jack Broyles, Jr., C.P.A.Jack Broyles, Jr., has served the ratepayers of three different municipal utilities in various finance roles. Before joining AWWU, Jack served more than 10 years as the finance manager of the Woodinville Water District, a special purpose water and wastewater district in the Seattle area. He was appointed CFO for the Utility in 2023. A licensed CPA, Jack also spent more than 5 years in public accounting with a focus on not-for-profit entities. The Finance Division is responsible for all accounting, preparation of Utility budgets, financial statements, and regulatory filings, for both the water and wastewater utilities. |

Information Technology Director, Erik SchmitzErik Schmitz has over 20 years of experience as an information technology professional in the water, wastewater, and electric utility industries. He joined AWWU in 2007 and has held several different roles in his tenure at the Utility, including Systems Analyst, SAP Interface Lead, Application Services Manager, and Technical Services Manager. Mr. Schmitz was appointed as the Director of AWWU's Information Technology Division in 2023. AWWU's IT Division is responsible for enterprise applications, cybersecurity, servers, and network infrastructure that are essential to AWWU's day to day operations. |

Operations & Maintenance Director, Brian Baus, P.E.Brian Baus began his career at AWWU in the Engineering Division and was appointed to Director of Operations & Maintenance in September of 2023. |

Treatment Division Director, Jeff AxmannJeff Axmann has worked in the water and wastewater field for 35 years. He joined the Utility in 2011. Jeff served as the Superintendent for the Asplund Water Pollution Control Facility for 10 years. In August 2022, Jeff was appointed the Treatment Division Director. The Treatment Division is responsible for the day-to-day operation of five treatment facilities and water distribution system and for maintaining compliance with all state and federal regulations. |
