AWWU recognizes that quality water and wastewater infrastructure is vital to the health and economic well being of the community. Quality infrastructure and the expansion of that infrastructure in support of land development is critical to economic growth. The Utility works closely with local and national design professionals and developers to ensure reliable service for customers as the city grows. AWWU offers several approaches to meet specific site and financial conditions of new service areas. AWWU invests over $50 million annually to maintain and enhance service to existing customers. Our Water and Wastewater Tariffs prescribes how service can be extended to new areas through private development agreements, improvement districts, and joint infrastructure agreements where costs and benefits of infrastructure improvements are shared by existing customers and development interests.
