An Improvement District is a defined area wherein capital improvements are constructed and paid for by property owners of the district. The process of forming an improvement district begins with the request of neighboring property owners petitioning AWWU to extend water and/or sanitary sewer mains to benefit their properties. If a sufficient quantity of respondents request benefit, AWWU will formally ballot all effected property owners. Upon ballot approval, AWWU will submit for Assembly approval a new improvement district outline and corresponding assessment charges.

More information related to the Improvement District Program is explained in the AWWU Improvement District Brochure.
