Soren Orley is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). During his 35+ year professional career, all in Alaska, he has served as an auditor and computer audit specialist for KPMG, Controller and Chief Fiscal Officer for the Municipality of Anchorage, and the Associate Vice Chancellor of Budget and Finance for the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA).  Currently, he is an Associate Professor of Accounting for UAA’s College of Business and Public Policy where he teaches Financial Accounting, Governmental Accounting, Auditing, and Fraud Examination. His area of research is fraud and is currently the director of UAA’s Justice for Fraud Victims Project, an innovative program where UAA students investigate real fraud cases received from local law enforcement for people who cannot afford to hire CPA’s and CFE’s. Soren is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, and the FBI Citizens Academy Alumni Association.
